1. How does the process of ripping CDs work?
First, setup the Bravo SE according to the Quick Start Guide that come with the unit. Load the Bravo SE with CDs. Double click the PTRip icon located on your desktop. Click Import to Windows® Media Player or Import to ITunes™ . The robot arm will pick the CDs, place them in the reader, rip the disc and then place it in the center output bin. The process will repeat until all CDs in the input bin are processed. Simply remove the ripped discs from the output bin, reload the input bin and click the Import button again to continue.
2. How does PTRip recognize the artist, track and album information for a particular CD?
An international online database called CDDB is used to identify the CD to be ripped.
3. Do I need an Internet connection to rip tracks to my computer?
Yes, an Internet connection is required so iTunes and Media Player may access their respective CDDB online music libraries and assign the proper artist, album, track, etc. information to each track.
4. What other software is required to use PTRip?
You must have either iTunes or Windows Media Player installed on the PC. Both software programs are free downloads from Microsoft or Apple®.
5. Does the PTRip software work on Mac?
No. PTRip can only be used on a PC. However, you can rip the CDs using a PC and then copy the ripped MP3 files into a folder on your Mac and set iTunes to watch this folder for music. It will recognize the files there and import them into your database. Note: This process requires some advanced computer knowledge and possibly some networking knowledge.
6. Will PTRip rip mix CDs into my collection?
No. An international online database called CDDB is used to identify the CD to be ripped. CDs not found in the CDDB database will be skipped. An on screen log is created to help identify which CDs are skipped. If multiple CDDB entries are found for a CD which would normally require you to choose the correct entry, PTRip will automatically choose the first entry on the list.
7. What happens if PTRip doesn't recognize my CD?
Occasionally, CDs that are not released by a major record label will not be ripped to your collection because they are not in the CDDB online database. CDs not found in the CDDB database will be skipped. An on screen log is created to help you identify which CDs are skipped. If you have trouble ripping your CDs using iTunes, try ripping them using Media Player or vice versa using iTunes. You can set it up so that it rips the music to the same folder location. The next time either program is opened it will recognize the new CDs and integrate them into your database.
