There are now three different firmware updates for three different 206 drives.  All three are essentially the same, they are just on three diffrent tracks.  Each one is for slightly different drive hardware.

The Pioneer 206 DBK has two firmware updates 9.06 and 9.56.  9.56 is not a higher version than 9.06. 9.56 is for drives manufactured after June, 2011.  If you are updating a retail drive the base firmware will tell you which firmware update to use.  If the base firmware is 1.06 use 9.06.  If the base firmware is 1.56 use 9.56.

The Pioneer 206 BK has one firmware update.
